Open Door Art Studio welcomes dedicated volunteers who support our goals, vision and mission. Our volunteers provide meaningful opportunities through individualized education and mentoring, assisting each artist to reach their full potential.
A variety of volunteer opportunities are available to those ages 13 and above, including students who need service hours. Open Door also offers internship programs for college students majoring in visual arts or a related field.
Volunteer hours are available Tuesday through Friday 11:00 to 4:00 and for special events.
Volunteers can utilize their skills in different areas such as, but not limited to:
Share your skills and have fun working directly with the studio artists. Volunteers in the studio support our artists by helping them set up their art-making areas and by providing assistance and critique for an endless number of wonderful works. Come prepared to get your paint on!
Open Door hosts five amazing in-house exhibitions a year, and that much awesome requires a lot of hard work! Help us prepare our gallery for these exhibitions or assist at an opening reception. We’d love to find a way to include you!
There are plenty of small but important tasks that make an art studio function efficiently. We rely on volunteers to help “behind the scenes” to maintain supplies and provide our artists with a clean and organized space to create their amazing works of art.
Some school programs require an internship experience that adheres to specific guidelines. Talk to our Volunteer Coordinator to discuss how an internship experience at Open Door can be a perfect fit for you.
When you are ready to apply, simply print out and complete the required forms and return them to Open Door Art Studio via fax (614-429-0140), snail-mail or in person. We would love to meet you!
Please note that individuals under the age of 18 must fill out a Consent for Emergency Treatment Form:
Prospective volunteers who have never worked with individuals with disabilities are encouraged to read the linked PDF about People First Language.
